Happy Halloween!

Here is the little monkey playing at Grandma and Grandpa's house. I loved this costume! It was so cuddly and comfy and the tail is hilarious.

We had another great Halloween. Madilyn went trick-or-treating at a few houses by Grandma Joan's house. She seemed to love wearing her monkey costume and greeting people in it! I made chili and cornbread muffins (a new tradition that started last year) and Paul, Madilyn and I along with Grandma Joan brought it to my mom and dad's house for dinner. Jaime and her fiance Joe came too and we all feasted on the chili, candy, and a great new smores dessert that my mom made. Yum. It rained, so we didn't have too many trick-or-treaters come by, but Madilyn did get to meet a cute lion that was around her age. It was a great night and tomorrow we are off to Disneyland! I am sure that we will have many photos to share when we get back.

Happy Halloween!

She is Amazing!

Lately, she has been putting on my shoes and picking out either one of my shirts or one of Paul's to wear around. She tries to put it on herself, but usually misses her head. It is too cute. Here she is in one of my T shirts.

Every morning, we have been going to our favorite park. We walk/hike, meet lots of dogs (Madilyn's favorite part), play on the playground, and explore. The park we go to is one of my favorite places. See how the mountains are just right there? It is spiritual.

I was just thinking about how Madilyn is so much fun lately. She is really growing up and learning so much. She just amazes me and it is so special to be able to teach her things and see her learning...I just can't explain it- it is amazing.

She is also saying a lot of words now and also signing. She says: apple, duck, cheese, juice, truck, cracker, leaf, and a lot more that I am forgetting. I love hearing her talk!

Little Daredevil

Madilyn is turning into a little daredevil. She knows no fear, which creates a TON of fear for us.

She had a HUGE fall this morning at the park. We go to the park everyday after breakfast and play and hike/walk. Today Madilyn tripped over her own two feet and fell on her hands, and then onto her head (on the pavement no less). I saw her trip and go down on her hands and then I heard a huge thump and it scared me. I picked her up and her nose was scraped a little and bleeding a little. I knew she hit her head too, because I heard it so clearly, but didn't see anything on her head. I took her to the car to hold her and calm her down and then I saw a huge "goose egg" on her head. It looked horrible...purple and huge! The size of a quarter. She was calming down and I offered her a snack (which she took and ate)....then she drank her water and I started to feel better. I called my mom (the nurse) and she told me the scary signs to watch for. It has been 4 hours now and Madilyn is playing, ate lunch, had a nap, and seems to be back to herself. Just with a huge purple bump on her forehead.

She is walking so well and she is so sure of herself and is trying to fun, go down and up steps, etc --which means a lot of falling. I am hoping I make it through this stage without a heart attack!

Fall Hiking

We have been doing a lot of hiking this fall, but we are not using the backpack to carry Madilyn with us much anymore. She would much rather hike on her own 2 feet. She LOVES to go hiking and walking. As we walk along, she loves to kiss the flowers and discover bugs, rocks, etc. It is so great to see her loving nature. Hiking is definitely one of her favorite things to do. I am so sad that winter is coming and we will be stuck indoors more than we want to be. I guess we will have to get Madilyn snow shoes so we can keep on hiking throughout the winter months.

The snow is coming....

It dusted the mountain tops over the weekend. We live pretty high up and when I woke up on Saturday morning, we were in a cloud. I am not looking forward to winter :(

What Madilyn has been up to..... (and us too :)

We had a great date night with my sister Jaime and her fiance Joe up at Sundance Resort. We rode the chairlift in the dark on a night with a full moon. Sundance does these rides on full moon nights through October. It was fun to bundle up and drink hot chocolate and ride up the mountain. We have done this chairlift ride so many times before, but the dark put a whole new perspective on it. We had so much fun with Jaime and Joe and are so excited to have Joe in the family.
Getting a little romantic...how could we not?
Madilyn has been up to so much this past month. She has really been turning into a little girl...her babyness is mostly gone :( but she is so much fun and I am really enjoying the stage she is in now.
Here she is hiking. She has found her love for hiking (thank goodness- because we love it so much)! She can out-walk/hike Paul and I. We have taken her on a lot of trails. This is at Cascade Springs. She is only content in the backpack for so long and then she wants to walk and walk and walk. She is so steady on her feet already too. Amazing.
She hikes and hikes and then finds a good place to sit down to play in the rocks and dirt.
From hiking shoes to my shoes.....
Here she is trying on some of my shoes. She is really starting to do all the things that I do. Recently, she has been "helping" with laundry. She loves to pull the clothes out of the dryer and put them in the basket. Then she takes them out of the basket and hands them to me one-by-one.
Here she is rocking on her little rocker she got for her bday. She is just now figuring it out by herself.
We have been having great fall weather, so last weekend we went and flew Paul's kite. Madilyn had a ball "helping".

Here is Madilyn's first ride on a horse. Her cousins Tad and Noah turned 2 and had pony rides at their party! It was a lot of fun.
She LOVED riding the horse. We always go over to the horses at my parents house and she feeds them big sunflower leaves. We are so glad that she enjoys horses!
A little blurry, but here she is in her new jammies. Too adorable!

A few weekends ago, my best friend, Alana, invited us to go with her and her dog Goose to the dog swim. We had no idea that the pools around here do this in the Fall before they drain the pools for the winter. We had a blast watching all the dogs swim. Madilyn loves the water and dogs, so she was in heaven. It was a lot of fun until Madilyn decided that she wanted to jump in the water....she never made it that far, but she sure wore me out chasing her around.

She is learning how to brush her hair...and mine. It is hilarious, but she wants to do everything herself :)

We have gone on so many fun hikes this summer/fall. Madilyn loves it so much.
Here she is rocking in my vintage rocking chair that my mom got me for my birthday. We discovered an awesome consignment shop and spent hours there shopping. I just had to have this chair.
Feeding herself yogurt. I am amazed at how much she can do by herself. She is so awesome!
"Helping" me load the dishwasher!
"Helping" me recycle.
Pushing her shopping cart that my mom got her for her bday. She loves to push it around and "shop" for things. It is too cute.
Her big bday card from Aunt Jaime. She loves this thing. She is now kissing everything and loves to kiss the bear on the card. She is so loving and caring with us and her stuffed animals. I love getting about a thousand kisses a day from her.
"Helping" me put the groceries away.... I can't believe how in the last month she has learned so much and has been so interested in everything that I do on a day -to-day basis. She is my little shadow and it is so fun to have her!

The last few weeks have been busy

I haven't posted in a really long time, so I just wanted to let everyone know that we are still alive and very well! We have been pretty busy these last few weeks. My sister Jaime got engaged and her finace treated my mom and sisters and I to a wonderful day at the spa, I had a fun "girls getaway" to Mesquite with my best friend Alana, we celebrated my sister's birthday, hanging out with friends, and Paul has been working a ton! That has been our fall so far. Madilyn is so much fun and is turning into the cutest little girl. She is having fun walking everywhere, and meeting new people. Time continues to fly by for us. I will post some new pictures soon. As for now, we are just enjoying the last bit of nice fall weather and getting ready for our trip to Disneyland.
