Yesterday was a pretty crazy and hard day.
Madilyn and I were about ready to go upstairs and get Cowen up from his nap when I heard the sound of a curtain rod coming down....it scared me and I remember screaming. Madilyn was standing right there as it came down (she was pulling on the curtain a little as she walked by) and she had a terrified look on her face. I went up to her and held her and she cried a little bit but said that she was okay. She said that it hit her head. I felt her head and didn't feel a bump. When she calmed down we started going upstairs to get Cowen...that is when I saw a bloody spot on the back of her head. We went into the bathroom so that I could look at it better. It was a pretty deep cut from what I could see through the blood. I called Paul and left him a message and then I called my mom. I decided that I would put her in the shower and rinse it off so that I could see it better. I was pretty freaked out, but she was acting fine and said it didn't really hurt her so that made me feel a little bit better. Before I could even get Madilyn in the shower, Paul was walking up the stairs. I was so happy to see him and so thankful that he had gotten off of work a little earlier than nomal. He hadn't gotten my message yet, so I filled him in. He took Cowen while I put Mad in the tub. As I rinsed it, I could tell that it was pretty deep and I swear that I could see some of her skull bone :( I called Paul in to see it and he said that we definitely needed to take her in to see the Dr. We looked up an instacare near us as we thought that would be better than the ER at a hospital. Paul stayed home with Cowen and I took Madilyn to the Dr. She was so worried and kept telling me that she was all better now. We got there about 20 minutes before they closed (whew!) and didn't have to wait too long (maybe 30 minutes or so) to see the Dr. I held Mad on my lap while the nurse looked at it and then when the Dr. came in we decided on just doing the staples without numbing it as the needle of the shot to numb it usually hurts worse than just doing the staples without it. The Dr. cleaned it out really well and Madilyn was happy that the cleaner was pink. He really got in there and cleaned it out (gross), but it didn't seem to hurt Madilyn so that was good. Then he hurried and stapled it with 2 staples. Madilyn was so brave! She just flinched a little. She was so happy that it was over. We stopped and got an ice cream cone on the way home and had Madilyn's favorite thing (cheesy pasta) when we got home. She is doing really well and says that it doesn't bother her at all. I hope everything goes as well in 10 days when we go back to have the staples removed.
Wow, it was a crazy day yesterday!
