House for Sale

Well, our house is still for sale. It has only been a little over 2 weeks on the market and we have had a few lookers and interested parties, but no real big news yet. Keep your fingers crossed for us! We are really hoping to move soon!!!!

The (lack of) Tulip Festival

Paul took last Friday off and we spent it at the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point. It was a pretty nice day (which we hadn't had in a long time) so we were excited to get out and enjoy it. I was expecting tons of tulips to be out, but well, there really weren't that many. The flower bed behind Madilyn and I was about the only fully bloomed patch in the whole huge place. Not much of a festival, but still a beautiful place to spend an afternoon. It was hard to be disappointed, though, as I got to spend a fun day with Paul and Madilyn! If you look closely you can see the bagpiper in the background.
Here is Madilyn posing as a little tulip.
A self family portrait :) Madilyn would have rather been playing then posing for a picture. It was great, as just as we were sitting down to take some pictures, a lady came and was playing the bagpipes behind us. It created such a neat atmosphere to sit and just enjoy the day.
Madilyn really enjoyed sitting on the grass and playing. We are so thankful that she loves the outdoors and going places just as much as we do.

Madilyn and Paul in their sunglasses!! This was in our backyard, last Thursday evening right after Paul got home from work.

Lake Tahoe

We are going to Lake Tahoe at the end of June with Grandma Joan and Grandpa Larry and we can't wait to see Auntie Jeannine, Robert, Uncle Brad, and Great Grandma Dorothy!!! We are just excited about it, as Lake Tahoe is amazing. Can't wait to see Madilyn's little swimsuit butt on the beach playing in the sand!!! Too bad the water is always freezing, but we can't complain, as this is one of the most beautiful places in the world. We are counting down the days!

The Perfect Job...Working on being an Amazing Mother and Woman

I am really enjoying finding a whole new side of myself since I have become a Mom. I have really been discovering what makes me happy and it is not the things that I used to think would. I always knew I wanted to be a Mom, but I never realized how inspiring and fulfilling it would be. I am much more confident now and feel like I really am finding the joys in life.

I have rekindled my love for creating, which has been presenting itself in scrapbooking, cooking and baking, photography, and a new found love: jewelry making (thanks Tammy for getting me started :) You are the best!

I also want to start making quilts, refinishing old furniture (which I have done before), and learning to sew. Now, I know a lot of people might think that this sounds a little over-the-top homemaker, etc- but it is really what I have yearned to be able to do my whole life. I have had many wonderful woman in my life as role models for this. As I was thinking about it, I really start thinking about my mom a lot (and all the fun we would have baking together when I was little and how my mom would sew and made a really cool poodle skirt for me and my sisters) and it is just a really cool thing to look at life and motherhood in a whole new light. She taught me the importance of having a career (in case it is necessary to support yourself and your family), but life is so much more than that. I am so thankful to have the opportunity to experience being a full time mother.

I also have thought about my Grandma Sims, who is an amazing quilter and I want to be able to be 1/2 as good as she is at the craft. I wish we lived closer to be able to quilt together.

Also my Great Aunt Mary, who is still growing a garden and writing, and creating. I am feeling really fulfilled in life right now, and think that this is key to being a great Mother. I feel so proud to be able to include Madilyn in all the great things and good feelings that being a woman (and being surrounded by great woman) can bring to your life. I am also proud to be able to share it with all the amazing women in my life! Here's to all of you!

Officially on the Market

Well our house "officially" went on the market yesterday. We are both feeling really good about it and really love our realtor, so the outlook is positive at the moment. No doubt that we will miss this place, but be couldn't be more excited for the new adventures to come in our life.

Words of Wisdom

"For most of life, nothing wonderful happens. If you don't enjoy getting up and working and finishing your work and sitting down to a meal with family or friends, then the chances are that you're not going to be very happy. If someone bases his happiness or unhappiness on major events like a great new job, huge amounts of money, a flawlessly happy marriage or a trip to Paris, that person isn't going to be happy much of the time. If, on the other hand, happiness depends on a good breakfast, flowers in the yard, a drink or a nap, then we are more likely to live with quite a bit of happiness." ~Andy Rooney

Happy Tuesday...Life is GOOD!!!! :)
