Yummy Sweet Potatoes

Madilyn tried her first vegetable this past Tuesday...sweet potatoes. She loved them and did so well! By the end, she was trying to feed herself. Tomorrow we are going to try sweet peas which hopefully she likes just as much!

Madilyn hits the beach and Las Vegas on the Last part of our Trip!

It is hard to believe that we have been home for almost a week now from our vacation. It was such an awesome vacation. Madilyn has proved to be a great little traveler and we couldn't believe how relaxing our trip was...even with a 6 month old baby!! She seems to love all the fun experiences that she had on the trip. We can't wait for more fun trips to come.
It was a little windy in Las Vegas :)
We stayed at Treasure Island in Las Vegas on our way home from California. It was fun to stop over in Las Vegas for awhile. Madilyn's Grandpa Dan was there on business and he took us out for breakfast. What a great treat!
Madilyn loved playing in the sand!
I love this picture. Madilyn looks so small against the beach and the ocean.

Here we are at Laguna Beach California. What a beautiful place! We couldn't believe how nice the beaches are here and they are all public which was nice. Too bad the weather was a little cloudy, but we still had a great time.

Happy 6 months of Life Madilyn Sage!

Today is Madilyn's 1/2 birthday. Can you believe that she is 6 months old already? We certainly can't. What a fun, adventurous, crazy, and amazing 6 months that it has been with Madilyn in our lives!! Happy 1/2 year of life Madilyn!! We can't wait for all the fun times that lie ahead!!

Madilyn's First Road Trip!

This was Valentine's Day morning and I thought that this was an adorable picture, as Madilyn chose this book herself and it happened to be perfect for Valentine's Day! We left later that day for our road trip to California.

It was Madilyn's turn to drive by the time we reached Barstow, California!! :) She looks a little worried about it! Actually, we had just stopped for a quick break and Madilyn decided that she wanted to see what sitting in the front seat felt like. She felt so cool sitting up front...it was cute and hilarious at the same time. This is also where we got our first In N Out fix for this trip. We love visiting California, as that is the only time we get and In N Out Burger!

We finally made it to San Diego and spent our first day there at Sea World. Since the park is owned by Anheiser Busch, Paul had to enjoy an ice cold bud...Madilyn kept reaching for it..it was hilarious! She loved riding around the park in her stroller and in the Baby Bjorn. It was such a beautiful day to be outside. This was Madilyn's first experience in a stroller, as it hasn't been nice enough in Salt Lake to take her on a walk. We were so happy and relieved to find out that she LOVES her stroller.

Here we are watching the Shamu show at Sea World.

Madilyn catches her first glimpse of Shamu. We had a great time, as there were so many babies there for Madilyn to see! It was great to be at such a kid/baby friendly place. We have seen more couples with babies here in California then we ever do in Utah, weird. At first we thought that it was just because we were at Sea World, but we have been out and about in La Jolla too and have seen so many young families. We feel very at home here with so many young parents around. We absolutely love all the babies and kids around as it makes us feel more comfortable in the event that Madilyn gets fussy. For the most part, Madilyn has done awesome.

Mike, Tammy and their kids; Vanessa (3)and Shan (10 months) came down from Torrance California and met us at Sea World. We all spent the day together and it was so much fun. Vanessa had a wonderful time with her Uncle Paul and we had a great time visiting with Mike and Tammy.

The ultimate California photo!!! This says it all :)

We spent Sunday at Balboa Park in San Diego. What a wonderful and beautiful place. There are so many museums and gardens. We really needed about a week to spend there in order to see everything that we wanted to see, but we decided to just walk around and enjoy the beautiful day. We stopped into the Museum of Man for awhile and saw mummies and mayan art. We also saw how man has evolved over the years. Very awesome and interesting. We absolutely have to go back and visit all the museums that we didn't have time to see that day.

Tonight (Monday night) we are in Laguna Beach. Here is Madilyn in our hotel room playing with Paul. We spent the afternoon driving up the coast from San Diego through many cute and lazy beach towns. So many surfers to see. We really, really want to try surfing, but Madilyn is just not old enough for that yet :) Maybe next time. So far we are having fun in Laguna. We have walked up and down S. Coast Blvd browsing the art galleries and we ate a great pizza joint. Tomorrow we are hitting the beach to celebrate Madilyn's 1/2 birthday, which was today. Happy 6 months Madilyn!!! So far, it has been an awesome trip!

Happy Valentine's Day and our week in review.

Madilyn is resting up for her first road trip which begins tomorrow on Valentine's Day. She is wearing her cute Valentines jammies for the occasion too :)
Notice Madilyn's tongue in this picture. Paul had a cold sore in the corner of his mouth, so he was always feeling it with his tongue and Madilyn picked up on this skill and now she is constantly practicing it... haha...it makes me laugh!

Boy are we noticing that Madilyn is growing so fast. We can't believe that she will be 6 mons old on Monday. She is getting so big and so heavy to hold now!
Great case of "bed head"...she has the best hair ever!!!
Watching Baby Einstein in her T-shirt and diaper. This is one of her favorite afternoon activities while I fold the laundry.
Froggy face after her bath...sometimes she just looks like a little frog.
Hanging out with my PJ pants. She grabbed these herself and insisted on holding them..it was hilarious.
Sitting up on her own...it was only for about 30 seconds before she toppled over, but she is getting there!!
This has been a full and crazy week, as we have been getting ready for our road trip to California, which starts tomorrow. It is a little different now that we have to pack for a baby too..and boy does she require A LOT of stuff. It is definitely going to call for some creative packing on our part, but we are up for the challenge. We shall see how this whole thing works. We are looking forward to sunny weather and the beach and Sea World!

Time Flies When you are Having Fun!

Paul though that Madilyn looked a little like Obi Wan Kanobi from Star Wars, after her bath the other night, so he wanted me to take a few pictures of it...haha gotta love being married to a Star Wars geek :) at least he's a really handsome Star Wars geek ;)

Wow, we can't believe that another week has gone by so quickly. We are still working on the bathroom remodel and have been organizing like crazy to get our house ready to sell. Who knew that we have so much crap lying around!! We have been taking little breaks from housework to play the Wii (Joan and Larry brought us a new game last week, so of course we all had to try it out!), we also had a fun Super bowl Sunday at Grandma Penny and Grandpa Dan's. We had this amazing cake- S mores Cake- which is another great Paula Deen recipe. There went my calorie count for the week, but it was worth every bite!! Madilyn is working on becoming more and more independent, as she has started wanting to do things on her own. She is really trying to sit up and she is also trying to feed herself rice cereal. She also tries to grab everything that I am holding or eating. It was cute at first.... :) It is so fun to watch her grow everyday. Other than that, we are just gearing up for our trip to California. We can't wait and hope that the weather is good while we are there.
