Fun Day and Great Recipe Night!

Today was a fun day. This morning Paul and I went grocery shopping (I know, it is sad that I find that fun), then we got Cafe Rio for lunch, which is our absolute favorite. After Paul went to work, Madilyn and I had fun playing. Madilyn hit an all time record for jumping high in her jumper, which gave me the giggles, which then gave her the giggles. Then at 7pm we were off to my neighbors house for Recipe Night. All the girls in the neighborhood get together and we each bring something and we bring the recipe for everyone in the group. Delicious! We feasted on Pesto Ravioli, Chicken Enchiladas, Artichoke Dip, Ranch Chicken, salad, hot spice grape juice, eclair cake, Sopapilla Cheesecake, and Texas Sheet Cake. Madilyn came with me, as Paul is working 2-11. I was so worried, as she usually is in bed at 7pm, but I decided to just see how it would go. She was so GOOD!!! She loved all the girls and the attention. She passed out in her Baby Bjorn around 8:15 while we were all talking. I just love how laid back she can be sometimes. What a fun day and evening!!!!

Our Bathroom/Shower Renovation Continues......

Paul has spent the last few weekends working on the "new and improved" shower in our master bathroom (I have to say that he is quite the handyman). We bought our house after it had already been framed, so we were unable to have the bathroom the way that we wanted it. There was a false wall between the shower and the bathtub, which just didn't make any since. So Paul knocked the wall down so that we could have a bigger shower. This is a picture of the new shower space with the backer board finished.
Here is Madilyn checking up on the progress :)

The tiling progress....
Paul is just now finishing up the tile. Then we have to install the bamboo flooring, and put in the new cabinets. We can't wait until it is done!

Boo Look-a-Like?

Here is a picture of Boo...
Now for the story-
Madilyn and I were shopping at Kohl's today and the cashier told me how she thought that Madilyn looked like the character Boo from the movie Monsters Inc...I had never thought about this before, so I came home and looked Boo up on the internet, as it has been quite awhile since I have seen that movie. Then I put Mad's hair up into quick ponytails to get a real comparison. What do you think? She has the big eyes, puffy rosy cheeks, and lots of hair.

Here's Madilyn's cute face..sorry that it is a little blurry ;)
Here is Madilyn with her (very bad) ponytails...
Another picture of Boo......

Hmm, I don't know. The cashier was funny, she said that if she has a little girl, then she wants her to look like Madilyn because Madilyn looks a lot like Boo. It was cute. We always get a lot of comments when we are out, I never know what stories I am going to be coming home with :)

From the Past...Madilyn's First Bath Video. We thought you would all enjoy this one :)

I was looking through old photos and videos of Madilyn today, as I am having a hard time believing how grown up she is already- and I have also forgotten just how small she was not so long ago...Anyway, we have come a long way in 5 months...now Madilyn LOVES her baths, as long as they are in the "big bathtub" of course!!

Night Out Follow-up

We all had a wonderful night last night!! Paul and I saw an amazing Sundance Film Festival movie called "Stranded" which was a documentary about a plane crash in the Andes Mountains in 1972 which resulted in cannibalism. There is a movie from awhile ago called "Alive" that is about that same crash. It was a very good film. While we were enjoying the movie, Madilyn and her Grandma Penny had a great time. Madilyn had such a wonderful time with her Grandma and played so hard that she passed out around 7. I am so glad that Madilyn was good for her Grandma. Thank you Grandma Penny for playing with Madilyn while Paul and I had a date night. It was a great time for us all.

Night Out

Paul and I are going out tonight to see a Sundance Film Festival movie. We are so excited to go, as we have not been on a "date" in a very long time. Madilyn is very excited as well, as her Grandma Penny is coming over to play with her. She is resting up for the big night. Should be a fun night for us all!!

Grrrrr-Unting

Madilyn found a new sound yesterday and it carried over into today as well. She started GRUNTING! We were over at Grandma Joan's yesterday and all the sudden Madilyn started grunting very loud....it sounded like an adult that was really having troubles going to the bathroom. It turned out that she was trying to go to the bathroom, but was really, really grunting to get to her final destination.....which finally she did, and everyone in the room could hear when it happened :) I just had to write about this, as she had never done this before and it really made me laugh....well, we thought maybe she was having tummy troubles because of the formula that we just started mixing with her rice cereal. I don't think that is the case, though, as she has not had the formula for a few days and she was grunting again today before going to the bathroom. I just think she learned a new loud noise that gets our attention, because she doesn't seem to be in any pain. The joys of parenthood!!!

While Paul works on our bathroom remodel, Madilyn works on playing, watching Baby Einstein and being silly!!!

Here is Madilyn lounging and watching her Baby Einstein DVD called "Baby's First Moves"
Working on sitting up....
Playing with her feet...
Practicing for her first back flip.....
More lounging on the bed and playing with her duck friend......
While her dad is climbing in the attic to reposition a light fixture....
putting up the backer board for our new shower.....
and working his butt off to get our new shower done. Who do you think had the better day??? I think we all had a great day, as I had fun watching Madilyn learn new things and play, while Paul was working on the shower....it looks like a lot of work, but he really does enjoy it!!!!

Tummy Time, Working on Sitting Up, and Playing with Feet!

Can you tell this was soon after she had woken up? I think it looks like she is saying: "Mom, why do you have to take a picture of me right now?" It is such a cute expression on her face and I bet it is one that we will see more and more as she grows up!!
Here are a few fun pics of Madilyn on her tummy. We are doing more and more "tummy time" as Madilyn really doesn't like being on her tummy that much, so we are trying to get her used to it. Everyday she is liking it more and more.
Madilyn found her feet and can't get enough of them!!
She loves to sit up on her changing table, so that she can "crinkle" the bag that her wipes are in. Don't worry, I am right there supporting her so that she won't fall. :)
Proud mama with her beautiful daughter. I am so lucky to be able to spend so much time with her everyday.
Having fun with the camera. This is her upside down photo. Her eyes are so blue and beautiful that I took a ton of pictures of her one day this week.
Another cute picture of her! I am a proud, proud mama.
Here she is playing with her new toy that her Aunt Jessica got her for Christmas. Madilyn LOVES this toy because she can use her feet to kick it and it makes animal sounds and plays fun farm themed music.
This week we have really been working on sitting up and doing more and more "tummy time" as Madilyn has been really interested in getting a new view on the world. She is so curious about everything right now and it is so fun to play with her! Here are a few pictures of our fun week so far.

Overalls and Sweaters

I just loved Madilyn in this cute sweater that she got for Christmas from her Grandma Penny and Grandpa Dan. She looks so grown up in it!!!
I just had to post Madilyn in her first pair of denim overalls. I know this isn't the best picture of her in them, but it was the only one that I took. I just love babies in denim overalls, so I was so excited when Madilyn got her first pair for Christmas this year! It is so fun to dress her!

Thankful

I am just feeling so thankful right now!! I love my life as a mom and am so thankful to have such a wonderful and handsome husband to share it with. Amazing! I am just feeling overwhelmed with joy at how lucky and blessed I am to have both Madilyn and Paul in my life!! I love you both!!!!

Pictures of Christmas at Grandma Penny's and Grandpa Dan's and other pics

Just thought this was cute :)

Madilyn and I are over at Grandpa Dan's and Grandma Penny's today while Paul is at drill. I am taking advantage of all the great pictures that they have of Madilyn! You can tell by the picture that Madilyn really enjoyed her first Christmas. She was lucky enough to have 2 because Grandpa Dan and Grandma Penny were in Ohio on Christmas Day, so we celebrated another Christmas on New Year's Eve.

Little Butterball!

Just thought I would share this cute picture of Madilyn on her changing table. She is such a cute little butterball now. She is becoming so much fun to play with and interact with. The littlest things make her giggle, which is very good for our self esteem :)

Madilyn's 1st trip to Park City

We took Madilyn up to Park City on New Years Day. She stayed warmer than us in her snuggly bear suit! What an awesome day we had strolling Main Street and sipping warm coffee...amazing winter day for us all. I am sad to see Paul's 10 days off with us come to an end :(

What a Beauty!

Madilyn Tries Rice Cereal

We decided to have Madilyn try rice cereal, since she is alway mimicking our chewing motions when we eat, and also because she is always so interested in what we are eating. She did awesome with her first go at eating "real food"!

Madilyn's Christmas Gift from Santa!

Madilyn got this cool Jumper from Santa. She loves it, but her favorite things to do still seem to be chewing on her fingers, sucking her thumb, and grabbing her Dad's beard!

Christmas Eve

We spent Christmas eve with Grandma Joan and Grandpa Larry just like we always do. It was fun! We then went home and slept and had our own little family Christmas that morning. It was very different this year, as my parents had to take a "spur of the moment" trip to Zanesville Ohio, as my grandpa had to have quadruple bi-pass surgery the Thursday before Christmas. My parents were in Ohio until the day before New Year's Eve. Madilyn got to experience 2 Christmas' as we had Christmas with my family on New Year's Eve. Madilyn had the most gifts under the tree and loves all her new toys and outfits! Her favorite toy is a Baby Einstein musical duck. She loves the drums sound. Paul and I actually love it too. I think we play with it more than she does ;)

Our Beautiful Baby

This was Christmas eve...Paul dropped Mad and I off at Grandma Joan's while he ran down to Costco to stand in line for the chance to get a Wii (the new Nintendo Game system) for Christmas. A little "birdy" tipped him off that Costco was going to be getting 96 Wii's in that day. Paul was successful and now we have our "date nights" at home after Mad goes to sleep. We are working towards pro status in Baseball, Tennis, Bowling (I just made pro 2 nights ago!), and Golf. What a fun Christmas present!
